Conference and activities – April 15 2008
Comments from the T2D2 Communications/Information Committee Coordinator :
The members of the Executive Committee present at the event and the undersigned would qualify this event as « Mission accomplished ».
Overall, this day was a success from a content point of view as well as for future projects to be achieved. From the participants’comments, we were able to gather their expectations and also allowed us to mobilize future members to the work to be accomplished in sustainable development.
This was a first ; it is now up to the Executive Committee to analyse this event on the whole and take the necessary steps to move on.
We wish to thank everyone who helped us orient the results positively : participants, speakers, sponsors and partners, the Executive Committee, suppliers and organisors.
We believe that sustainable development is a must to reorient and help our textile industry find new ways of doing things in these hard times.
As a wrap-up, we have achieved important projects such as the production of our Best Practices Guide, the creation of our new web site which gathers all the work accomplished by the Committee and all the activities achieved and to be achieved on a short, medium and long term basis by the Committee and those interested ; also the mobilisation of the industry for sustainable development has been initiated.
The organisors also chose to hold its 1st Annual General Meeting the same day; this was also a success. 28 people brought their comments to this meeting, which will move the sustainable development project forward in the textile industry. There will probably be a similar event next year as well as the 2nd annual general meeting when the minutes of the 1st meeting will be presented. You are already invited.
We still have projects to achieve for 2008. On April 15th, at the conference, other projects were added to the work to be done and the Executive Committee will need to review the project schedule. So, during the following week, there will be meetings and decisions for year 2008. You will be informed of the results.
Other projects to come :
The list is already published on our website but it seems that already, « Americana » project has been added to our project schedule.
What comes out of this conference, is an increased interest for sustainable development and the means to achieve this « green » spirit. Comments were surprising on this new way of thinking for the industry and of how each and everyone of us can contribute to this new vision on a day to day basis. How far will this take us ? At this time next year, it would be interesting to review the outcome...
