The Canadian Textile Industry is at an important turning point in its evolution. A strong economic drive in Canada until the turn of the new century, the textile industry has since gone through an important decline, and now sees itself forced to reposition in a market globalization context to ensure its long-term prosperity.

Many initiatives and activities have helped the industry redefine itself during the last few years as much politically as economically. But the fact remains that for the vast majority of the remaining businesses in this industry, they are still looking for a competitive cluster around which they can attempt to evolve.

It is in this context that the Sustainable Development Working Committee was created as well as its projects.
